Module 4 - Transferring an N Number From a Previously Owned Drone
This module covers the registration process for non-previously registered aircraft (those without an N number), using the J-100 as an example.
The process involves completing multiple forms:- A cover page requiring date, model number (EA-J100), serial number, email, and signature;
- The 8050-1 registration document where you'll specify business information (typically as an LLC);
- And an affidavit of ownership that must be notarized.
Most information will be pre-filled by the Regulations Department, but you'll need to verify all details, sign where indicated (with "member" as the title for most LLC owners), and include information from your dealer invoice. The complete packet must be mailed to the FAA Aircraft Registration Branch with a $5 check, preferably via overnight shipping for prompt processing.
