Course Outline
Lesson 7 - Basic Maintenance
Video 1: Checking & Replacing Propellers
This video outlines the step-by-step process for safely and effectively replacing the Propellers (Props) on a J150, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
Pro tips:
- Ensure you are installing the Correct Propellers CCW or CW for that Arm of the drone.
- Always check for loosening, look for cracks, chips, or any damage to Propellers (Props) before any flight.
- There are two washers for each prop (one on top of the prop, and one beneath). Keep track of these washers.
Video 2: Removing & Cleaning Pumps
Always ensure your drone is properly cleaned after you've finished a spray job!
Video 3: Pre-Flight Inspection -- Checking and Adjusting Arm Locks (and More)
Learn how to perform a thorough pre-flight inspection of the J150 airframe to ensure safe and reliable operation. This lesson covers checking cam locks, arm clamps, propellers, and motor bearings for proper fit, wear, and damage. You'll learn how to identify loose components, adjust critical hardware, inspect for cracks or excessive play, and recognize potential issues before they lead to downtime or in-flight failures. By the end of the lesson, you'll be able to confidently perform a daily mechanical inspection and verify that your aircraft is ready for flight
Video 4: Cleaning Battery Terminals
Learn how to inspect, clean, and maintain the battery and aircraft power terminals on the J150. This lesson covers identifying signs of terminal wear, arcing, carbon buildup, and contamination, as well as proper cleaning techniques using contact cleaner and isopropyl alcohol. You'll also learn how to inspect data pins, apply dielectric grease correctly, verify terminal mounting hardware, and perform routine checks that help prevent connection issues and electrical faults. By the end of the lesson, you'll be able to maintain clean, reliable electrical connections that support safe and consistent drone operation.
